Bozcaada with Kids

I’ve been to Bozcaada many times and I always like to visit this lovely island.Apart from its beatiful beaches,rich history and vineyards; it is attractive visiting an island itself.Bozcaada is a small island in the north Aegean,a district of Çanakkale province.Its ancient name is Tenedos whose name is mentioned many time in mythology.

As a ritual of a holiday with me, we prepared a holiday agreement among us and dealed on it: saying that i will get on well with my older sister, won’t tease my cousin on purpose,trying to be flexible,...etc. A holiday agreement works everytime J they sometimes forget the agreement ; however once I remind it , they say "okey , I will comply with the agreement" J It is both funny and effective

As we traveled with kids,we stayed in a family bungalow which is quite comfortable with kids. Since the sea in Bozcaada is usually cold,it is better to prefer to stay in a hotel which has both beach and pool.Kids had fun a lot with the jump stand on the sea

 

 

 

 

There are nice beaches all around the island.So we did not stay at hotel all the time.
Ayazma beach is the most popular one with a cool and refreshing turquoise sea and the finest golden sand.Since  Ayazma is so popular, it is a bit busy at weekends. You can rent chaises longues and sunshades for the day.Right above the beach, there are cozy restaurants as well.

 

 

To end the day by visiting the West point has become a custom in the island. In front of you lies the boundless Aegean. There is a smooth road where you can drive past the wind turbines and reach the end of the cape. Some take their picnic baskets, others just a bottle of island wine as they take their places facing the setting sun. The cape is filled with a new kind of beauty as the sun sets. There is no sign of habitation around, so no artificial lights but the wind turbines. The energy generated here is 30 times more than the island’s consumption. Electricity with a capacity to serve 30.000 people is sent to the mainland under the sea.

 

We explored the city center as well.Bicycles, scooters, cars and minibuses are used as modes of transportation on the island. Bicycles and scooters are rented on the island.Bozcaada is more attractive by artist Cemil Onay’s paintings on the walls.Here are pictures from his pieces...

 

 

My next trip to Bozcaada will be in autumn to explore the farms ,vineyards and winemaking . Bye lovely Bozcada...
